Every year I make a beeline for the Shorebird Studio booth. Jake wondered why we just had to begin there. When he saw Katy’s new limited edition pieces for this year, he knew why. One of them has a production of just 10 pieces (the foo dog #M515) because that’s how many foo dog faces she can cut from the one obi panel. The rhododendron (M516) has a limit of 14 pieces for the same reason.(It looks kind of squished in the picture so that the obi panels can be seen on the sides.) I requested both of these on 18 mesh and each is $345. They are absolutely spectacular. You can view them at www.shorebirdstudio.com. Go to New in 2009. Even though the page is labeled 2008, the canvases on both pages are new this year. I’m not sure if they are sold out yet, but first come… Another wonderful find was a group of leather bags in varying sizes, fashion colors, and sizes from Stirling Leather. Quality is excellent, prices are reasonable, and a variety of canvases have been painted for them by different designers. The stitched canvas fits into the front opening—finish it yourself or we will do this for you! More fans and kimonos are on their way from Danji, plus a gorgeous piece of the Holy City done in whites and creams. If you have been around for a while, like me, and think these look familiar—they are! Jinice did these line-drawn canvases a while back and Danji bought the rights to the line a year ago. More will be coming out as the year(s?) go on. Linda’s dramatic fan on black was one of the first last year.
